A very traditional trek, Everest Gokyo Trekking gives the trekkers magnificent views of the mountain peaks and the Ngozumpa Glacier, which is the largest in Nepal's Himalayas. With so many popular mountains, with most of them being in the height range of 8000, like Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu, which can be seen from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake, this trek has always been famous among the trekkers. One of the best things about this whole trek is the view that we can get from the wonderful ice point between Cho Oyu and Gyachung (2922 m) located in the Khumbu region.
Everest Gokyo trekking, which takes us past many monasteries and gives us the wonderful view of Everest and other towering snow-covered mountains getting closer, is the best experience one could have in these treks. Our rest stop will be Namche, where we will allow ourselves to explore the region and acclimatize. Then a trek to Everest Gokyo Ri (5483 meters) and a leisurely return to Namche and Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.
Everest Gokyo trekking is best done from the beginning of March to the end of May and from the beginning of September to the end of December. However, you can always look at the itinerary and make amendments as per your desire or your holidays.

Trip Itinerary
01Day
Today, we will take a short 40 minutes scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Upon reaching Lukla, we will begin our trek towards Phakding. We will ascend slowly along the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. The trail will present us beautiful views of Mt. Nupla, Kusum Kanguru, Kwongde Range, and other mountains. From here, another two hours walk will take us to Phakding Village where we will be staying for a night.
02Day
We will trek on the Dudh Koshi valley in north going through pines. We will cross small suspension bridges twice and reach Monjo, the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. From here, we ascend towards Jhorsalle and further trek through fir, rhododendron, and magnolia forests. We will then again ascend steeply all the way up to the Namche Bazar. Upon reaching here, we will get to see the first glimpse of the Himalayas.
03Day
Today is our acclimatization day in Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is one of the biggest settlements in the Khumbu region. We will find several bookstores, coffee shops, and souvenirs shops here. We will go on a short hike to Khumjung which, is a Sherpa village. We will get to see amazing views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and many more. After spending some time here, we will trek back to Namche Bazar.
04Day
We will begin ascending along with the beautiful views of the Himalayas. We will also get to see wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Thar, pheasant on our way. We will reach Khumjung after few descends and ascends. Further, we again descend and cross Dudh Koshi River and ascend through rhododendron forest to reach Phortse Thanga.
05Day
We will begin ascending steeply to Dole through birch and rhododendron forest. On the way, we will see stunning views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku. Further, we will trek on a rugged trek with few dwarf rhododendrons. We will walk along the Dudh Koshi through some small settlements and reach Machhermo where we will be going to stay for a night.
06Day
We will begin ascending through a ridge chorten from where we can see the magnificent views of down the valley and of the Mt. Kangtega, Thamserku, and northern part to the Cho-Oyu (8,201 m). Further, we will cross a bridge over a stream cross the first lake, Longpongo. From here we will continue trekking and cross the second lake, Taboche Tsho and then the third lake, Dudh Pokhari. Gokyo village stands by the third lake, which is also our ultimate destination for today.
07Day
Today, we will explore Gokyo, visit lakes, and hike to Gokyo Ri. We will begin our steep climb to reach the top. We will see Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal and the panoramic view of snow-capped mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), and many more. We will then witness glorious fourth lake, Thonak Tsho and the fifth lake, Ngozuma Tsho.
08Day
We will descend back to Phortse Thanga on the same route as we came. The trail steeply descends through rhododendron and fir forests. We might see wildlife on our way. Further, we will cross a bridge over Dudh Koshi River and ascend to reach Phortse Thanga where we are going to stay for a night.
09Day
Today, we will begin our trek by descending steeply through beautiful rhododendron forests. Further, we will ascend on a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi Valley and then descend to rach Khumjung. From here a short walk will take us to Namche Bazar,
10Day
We will descend all the way down to Phakding through the ridge, several small villages, and rhododendron & pine forests. From here, the trail became easy. We will descend steeply throughout the trek with gorgeous views of lush green forest and mountain scenery. Upon reaching Lukla, we will freshen up and explore the nearby area.
11Day
Today, we will wake up early in the morning. After having a light breakfast, we will fly back to Kathmandu. The flight we will be scenic and present us amazing views of snow-capped Himalayas and hills.

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo and Chola Pass
Thanks to Gokul and his super efficient team for helping me and my wife plan a 12 day trip to Everest Base Camp, via Gokyo Lakes and the Chola Pass.
It was a very well planned trip, and we had the best of his team - Gokul chhabi and pream (our indefatigable porter).
Gokul went out of his way to make sure our trip was well organized. This was despite a 2 day delay due to elections in Nepal and unpredictable weather at Lukla. Rajan arranged for additional stays for us and was prompt with alternative flight arrangements. chhabi's guidance during the 12 day trek was excellent, he ensured that we were fighting fit for long hours of trekking each day and knew the routes very well. His sense of humor and knowledge made our travel light and enjoyable. Both him and Chatur our porter, literally dragged us up during the arduous climb up Chola pass. Chatur, our porter was already an extraordinary person...a machine really, who was not only carried our burden but was always ready to come back and help us during difficult climbs. The weather in May 2nd and 3rd week was also exceptional, we saw magnificient Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu in brilliant clear light and summitted Gokyo Ri and Kala Patthar en route.
This is our second trip with Outshine Adventure, earlier in October 2016 , we did an even longer 19 days trek covering the Entire Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp in one sustained trip. Outshine Adventure's team hospitality and care and concern is what brought us back to Nepal.
Great Job gokul, Thank you for making a once in a lifetime journey like this even more memorable.

I totally recommend it to anyone who is traveling Nepal for hiking, trekking or just visit the amazing cities that this country can offer to anyone .
